Altmarkt 4 01067 Dresden, Dresden
Thank you for the delicious St. Martin's goose! Completion at home was very easy thanks to the instructions provided. Goose, red cabbage, Brussels sprouts and dumplings were delicious and the baked apples for dessert were just delicious. Big thanks to the chefs. Hold on! We look forward to coming back in person soon.
Mega ambience and delicious food!
Hearty food, a cozy atmosphere, that's all you need. Were there 4 evenings, each time something different to eat and each time came satisfied and full from the Altmarktkeller. Can be recommended to everyone who visits Dresden.
A culinary delight! You can tell the cooks know what they are doing. Get the pretzel as an appetizer.

Cozy, rustic beer cellar in the old town. Friendly staff and good, traditional dishes with reasonable prices.
Be sure to reserve a table in advance. Even for two. We had a 3 course meal. Delicious. Price ok.
Great staff, really good food and affordable prices. Right in the city centre.
Really really great food for a great price. Almost looks closed when you go to it because it's downstairs but luckily we were more curious than anything to see if it was open and walked all the way down to make sure. I recommend drinking the liquor and beer from the area as it tastes amazing
We took part in a 3-course menu as part of the horror night watchman tour. It was not previously known what it would be. But we were really excited. Such an incredibly delicious menu. Economy was very well attended and we were glad to have reserved or booked this dinner
Excellent menu, nice and traditional environment. Great draft beers. Prices in line with Dresden. Thanks, I'll definitely be back.
It is advisable, as evidently with many Dresden restaurants, to pre-order. We got a quiet place. The waiter was very careful and looked after us very well. After 6:30 p.m. queuing was announced ... Honest cuisine, with a very short waiting time. Everything tasted very good. The prices are customary and reasonable.
Food very tasty, prices ok. Got a nice seat with pre-order. From 6 p.m. it got full quickly and quite loud due to the vaulted cellar. You just had to speak a little louder yourself. Recommendable.
We visited the outside dining of this restaurant at 31 degrees last week and were absolutely disappointed! The estimated 70 chairs for outdoor dining are terribly bad or completely unsuitable for sitting a little longer at lunch: You press the tendons and blood vessels of the thigh on the front crossbar and also get a tense back because the backrest is too steep and too low, causing a hollow back . Our request for a blanket to adapt was denied with reference to Corona hygiene regulations. It was admitted, however, that these shortcomings are well known. We were also dissatisfied with the only average price / performance ratio. The star goes to the friendly service and the well-seasoned, hearty food.
We were very much looking forward to the visit to the Altmarktkeller. The menu read very well but unfortunately this was not confirmed. The duck was dry, the red cabbage was underground and the ice cream consisted more of cream. The rest of the dishes were ok. The next time it's back to the shooting house.
We had a very nice evening. The food and drinks were very good. Most of all we 9 couples were impressed by the waitress. She was able to assign food and drinks to each couple, even though we were sitting at different tables. Big props for that performance.
I went through the old market and knew immediately that we would have our snack here. And it was all good. It is very pleasant to sit in the sun under parasols in the late afternoon. The food was presented very appetizingly, tasty and so much that we hardly managed a knuckle of pork for two. The rind was crispy - as it should be. The salad was surprisingly good. Very fresh and the mango and sesame dressing very tasty. The service was very nice and attentive. And the beer tastes really great. Everything was perfect.
Would eat there again anytime! The food was delicious (at a really reasonable price), the service was friendly and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend everyone to try this restaurant.
A chicken breast fillet with noodles was ordered. The dish was served after about 40 minutes, but unfortunately the chicken wasn't done yet. We let it go back and got the fried chicken after 10 minutes. Unfortunately, it wasn't completely through again. The waitress was very friendly and took it off the bill.
The outdoor area was spacious. The service is friendly and courteous. The food was very tasty and the portions were very large. The Altmarktkeller is not the cheapest, the other restaurants have the same price game. Highly recommended for enjoying an excellent meal.
Since our hotel in Dresden did not offer a warm dinner during our seven-day visit to Elb-Florenz Covid-19, my wife and I wanted to go on a culinary tour of discovery in Dresden. At the reception we specifically asked about Saxon-Bohemian cuisine, which is known to be particularly rich. At the hotel reception, three different restaurants were recommended to us, and we decided on the closest one, namely the Altmarktkeller, located directly on the central Dresden Altmarkt. On a mild summer day you can sit outside in front of the entrance area to the Altmarktkeller to consume food and drink, which was used by many guests. Since it looked like rain clouds were gathering, we moved into the spacious vaulted cellar and had lots of tables to choose from. It wasn't until the rain came that many guests were drawn in from outside. The service was extremely friendly, helpful and quick. All the young men and women wore the brown leather aprons that beer brewers used to wear in the old days. The huge beer tap looked extremely impressive and gave the vaulted cellar an inviting, cozy and rustic note. My wife and I chose different main courses: I opted for the renovated pork schnitzel, filled with cheese and bacon, served with lemon, plenty of fried potatoes and vegetables. The pork was juicy and tasty; However, it should be noted that after a long period of chewing, I kept a large piece of rind from the bacon in my mouth, which I put discreetly on the edge of the plate. I cannot say whether a large piece of bacon rind belongs to an authentic Saxon-Bohemian cordon bleu; for my taste buds it took some getting used to. It was much harder for my wife: She chose a piece of sauerbraten in dark sauce with dumplings and red cabbage, although the dumplings and red cabbage were okay. In our opinion, however, the sauerbraten was not acceptable, because the piece of meat not only had a fat rim but was completely streaked with fat - in other words, this dish was not worth the money in our opinion. This was by no means the fault of the extremely friendly service. Have we now been among those tourists who run the risk of being exempted from time to time or are these actually peculiarities of the Saxon-Bohemian cuisine that we as visitors simply did not know how to appreciate properly? My wife wanted to eat Italian or Mexican food on the following days, because that's also possible in Dresden without any problems.
Great on all levels. Great ambiance, great food (if you like Sachsen cuisine, although there are some international options) and great, entertaining service. (Ich sache nur zwee Geista füa zwee Geista lol.)
One of the few places with good steak which, as an Australian, I can tell you is a hard thing to find.
Very good restaurant with delicious down-to-earth German dishes, which are given a new coat of paint with small variations. Nevertheless, there is also the classic pork knuckle or the schnitzel with fried potatoes. The service was quick and the waitress friendly. Despite the good location on the Altmarkt, the prices are reasonable and not too high. I would come back on occasion.
Typically German beer celler, great food and beer and friendly staff. Not always a given in Saxony!
Very nice place to visit on a summer afternoon. Located by the big square in front of the Kulturpalast in Dresden. We only had a couple of beers, which was fine. Service was not very attentive, but it seemed like a place I could visit again
Very good Sächsischen Restaurant in the centre of Dresden. We ordered typical food from the area and we enjoyed it. The location is very silent and the people working there are friendly
Really good food in a fun atmosphere
Friendly customer service and well-made food. If you’re looking for a typical beer house, go here!
Great atmosphere, delicious food If you want to enjoy original Saxon and Bohemian cuisine, this is the place for you. Tasty 1a, great dumplings and delicious red cabbage, the duck was nice and crispy but not to the point. Too long in the oven and therefore no longer rosy and somewhat fibrous and dry. + clean toilets + nice staff + cozy ambience - Parking nearby difficult, if not cheap in the parking garage
Well I didn’t really like the food - it wasn’t bad but not really good either. Service was very fast and polite :)
Ambience is nice, service is very charming and food is excellent and (I assume) authentic for the region.
Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, German cuisine in its top form, and of course delicious beer. This surely was not my last visit.
Restaurant is great but food is
A very nice and reasonably-priced place. The food and beer are tasty. Make sure to book a place, otherwise you'll wait around 15-20 minutes.
Very atmospheric and tasty. Good choice of local beer and food.
Good food, good service. I left a big tipp and thats very unusual for me :)))
The food was good traditional fare. The beer selection was pretty minimal but what they had was tasty. The staff aren’t very friendly. Not sure what the deal was but the hostess kept trying to put us in front of the breezeway when there were plenty of places elsewhere and then stomped off in a huff when we asked to be seated elsewhere.
nice place! tasty beer! large portions!
The food and beer are very delicious. Recommend that place.
The staff who greeted us seemed unwelcoming and unimpressed about our presence. We saw her smiling at other customers though. Seemed to be the trend this restaurant as another waitress continuously brushed past us despite making eye contact and seeing that we had put our hand up to grab her attention. Food was good and the waiter who served our table was friendly but the initial encounter ruined it for us. Won't be returning.
super autentical, nice place, good beer, perfect kitchen
Great Beer. Average sausage, compare with Czech one.
Cosy and lovely, traditional dishes.
Traditional food and beautiful atmosphere. Fully recommended ;). Unfiltered ? especially.
Loved this place! It has a great atmosphere. The food was superb (had wildboar), the craft beer (The Brale) was awesome, and the staff was super nice. In the end they had an arch filled with little toys and they asked our kids to pick one which was a nice gesture. ?
Came late at night and wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised at how good the quality of food is. Definitely recommend a visit when in town.
Really nice ambient and very polite service, the food was great, if i ever come here again I'm definitely eating here again
Delicious food, very friendly service, nice and cozy atmosphere! Definitely recommend!
My first night in town and my first time eating Saxon cuisine. This place is out of the main area so it is a bit quieter and I enjoyed my dinner outside. The ox cheeks were very tender and delicious. Lots of good beers available and the service was very nice.
